Essential resources, features and tech for 22–23

Music has never had a greater role in supporting children’s well-being and sense of achievement – which is why we’ve been hard at work extending the range of resources we provide teachers and learners globally.

New for 22-23

Amongst many new features for the year ahead are:

• Create with YuStudio: A series of music projects will provide more variety for those teaching older children, aged 9–11. Students will use YuStudio, Charanga’s online music studio, to become young creatives able to make the most of contemporary technologies.
• Viewing content full screen: From next term, you’ll be able to enter a full-screen mode on your Lesson Viewer with a single click. It’s something many teachers have asked for, and we’re pleased to be able to introduce it.

• New resources: We’ll be adding a suite of resources for all types of beginner instruments and ensembles into the programme – perfect for anyone looking to set up school bands.
• Scheme enhancements: Although designed to help non-specialist teachers deliver the National Curriculum, the detail and structure of the DfE’s non-statutory Model Music Curriculum (MMC) can seem intimidating. We know our English MMC Scheme is more demanding, so we are making it easier to use. To help teachers (and generalists particularly) navigate the wealth of content, materials and documentation the Scheme contains, look out for an improved layout and our Quick Start Guide.
• Celebrating Scottish music: A wealth of Scottish traditional music will celebrate everything from Gaelic songs to Scottish Celtic Rock bands, showcasing the genre’s modern instruments and techniques. This content will be made exclusively available to our Scottish teaching community and partners.
