Music Tech With YuStudio

Music technology offers young people new routes into music, helping to expand their musical tastes, experiences and knowledge while unlocking their creativity.

Charanga Secondary makes using music tech in international school classrooms straightforward and more accessible so that more students can benefit from it.

We believe it can make a big difference to what learners can achieve musically. The programme includes:

  • Interactive resources for popular curriculum themes
  • Online workspaces to extend teaching and learning beyond the classroom
  • Includes YuStudio, Charanga’s full-featured DAW, and our Music Notepad notation app

Introducing YuStudio

Catering for novices and more experienced users, YuStudio, Charanga’s full-featured DAW (digital audio workstation), has been designed to develop the musical skills of diverse young talent and improve students’ understanding and use of technology in their music-making.

The online music studio is integral to a series of standalone projects available to Musical School International teachers. Users can create, save and share their work with their teacher, tutor or project leader securely.

The software works in all popular browsers, and young people have helped shape its development. YuStudio’s sound library, editing tools and effects support young people’s learning. Artist packs from renowned artists and industry professionals are included.

Testimonials

Charanga is used in over 12,500 schools, in 64 countries worldwide, by over 70,000 teachers. Here’s what other music education professionals have to say about Musical School International.

Our school has been using Charanga for over a year now, and the impact has been significant. Charanga has enabled us to do many more whole-class instrumental programmes with some excellent and engaging resources. The children love to continue their learning at home and combine performance, composition and improvisational skills when learning the songs and pieces from the Schemes of Work. It has been a brilliant enhancement to our curriculum.

Jennie Leyfield, Music and MFL Teacher, Alice Smith School, Malaysia

My students are responding very well to it. I love that it has plenty of contemporary music and more traditional music units. I like how the units develop and musical skills are embedded. It makes learning fun.

Stacey McMorran, Director of Music, King’s College, Doha

I am really enjoying Charanga, especially the instrumental pieces with backing tracks

Jonathan Doherty, Music Teacher, The British International School Shanghai, Puxi

We enjoy using Charanga at St Lawrence and find the assessments, toolkit and lesson resources particularly useful. The children enjoy the toolkit videos most.

Clare Bakewell, Head of Music, St Lawrence College, The British School in Greece

As a classically trained music teacher, I quickly realised that my training did not include teaching all the students in the class effectively. After working with this fabulous tool of musical instruction for just a month, I knew that the average student needs a modern and familiar approach to the repertoire. Now I have happy, singing students running to the classes without realising that they are learning to listen to music from a far higher informed perspective. Thank you, Charanga!

Debbie Biermann, Hartland International School, Dubai

The step by step approach to holistic instrumental learning is superb. Charanga is brilliant for a busy specialist.

Naomi Rowan, Curriculum Fellow for Performing Arts, Nord Anglia International School, Hong Kong

Musical School International stands out as an engaging, easy to use system. When teachers are shown the programme for the first time, it boosts their enthusiasm. They just know that it’s going to work really well. The instrumental resources are excellent, and the children in our band programme have improved by repeating the work that we do together in class.

Andy Casterton, Director of Music, The British School, Rio De Janeiro

We have been using Musical School International for nearly two years. We love it! At our school, the use of Musical School International is now fully embedded. Lower School pupils (5-11) and those in the Upper School (Year 7-13) use many of the resources.

Emma Goldsmith, Head of Performing Arts Lower School, St. Catherine’s British School, Athens

I must say how wonderful the whole Musical School International programme is, as it saves us the extremely long and difficult process of buying in resources.

Allison Lehtinen, Music Teacher, Maseru Preparatory School, Lesotho

Musical School International is the best resource I have seen in my 21 years as a music teacher in the Danish school.

Mette Meyer, School Teacher, Denmark

I love working with Charanga. With technology at my fingertips, the programmes are highly motivational and flexible. You will find extensive curricula and themes that can be adapted and integrated into your school’s music programme or used independently. Students will connect and relate to the materials provided. My prep time has been reduced considerably. Thank you, Charanga!
